In case anyone was wondering why this one is a bit local and not too far to ride, it's because a few people have expressed an interest in going on to Castle Donington after breakfast, as the World Superbikes will be parading around the village along with various biking celebs.

Donington Park wrote:A number of riders will take to the streets in a unique event which will allow the public to get closer to the stars than ever before, a recurring theme of the race weekend itself.

The event will start at 1pm, with World Superbike legend and King of the Jungle Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty leading the parade into the village. Current World Superbike riders confirmed include Derby’s Alex Lowes, former champions Sylvain Guintoli and Tom Sykes and ex MotoGP rider Karel Abraham. A host of British riders from the World Supersport Championship will also participate, including Stefan Hill, Kyle Smith, Gino Rea and Luke Stapleford.

The free of charge parade and demonstration is expected to finish by 3pm, with the riders doing several laps of the streets before stopping for photograph opportunities. Spectators will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the race event itself. A separate parade of 40 classic bikes will start the event off, before the racers take to the streets, with the route including laps of Borough Street, The Hollow, Clapgun Street and Apiary Gate, before concluding with a presentation in the Assembly Area outside Castle Donington Methodist Church.

Donington Park wrote:Due to overwhelming demand, it has been necessary to move the pre-event for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, scheduled for Sunday 22 May, to Donington Park circuit itself.

The initial plan was for a parade and presentation to take place in Castle Donington village, but unprecedented spectator levels means the event has had to be moved to an area with greater capacity. Therefore a new event will take place at Donington Park on the same day, incorporating a meet and greet session with some of the leading names of the Superbike World Championship as well as entertainment and bike displays. The parade will not now take place.

The new event will be based outside the Donington Collections museum, where there will be family activities and rider Q&As. World Superbike legend Carl Fogarty will still be in attendance, as will the other confirmed riders, including Alex Lowes and Sylvain Guintoli.

Donington Park Sporting Director Bob Adams commented: “While it’s regrettable that the parade into the village won’t now be able to take place, we are delighted at the amount of people who have expressed interest in the event, and are now planning to make it an even bigger preview for World Superbikes. It’ll be an afternoon of fun for all the family and a great way to kick start our preparations for the only UK round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.”

Castle Donington Parish Council Chairman Shaun Ambrose-Jones commented: “Although we anticipated a good local response, we didn’t expect a nationwide one. Fantastic though this is, it was realised that the event would have to move somewhere larger to properly accommodate it, most obviously Donington Park itself. The Parish Council will still be involved and it is hoped that many of the visitors will still sample our village centre, but for public safety and security, the meeting with the stars will now be on the museum garden at Donington Park.”

The event will start at the same 1pm time on 22 May as originally scheduled, and entry will be free of charge.

I saw flyer at work advertising a monkey bike / custom cub show /meet at 'Pidcock Central' on Sunday 22nd.

I believe that that the driver from Piddy's has a custom cub ...

( custom cub is a as it says a custom bike based on the old Honda 5/7/90 with many mod's and bigger power)

Richard Cooper does have one (we saw it at Kickback last year), and now about about eight of his mates do as well. I know at least one of them currently running a 160 engine.
